Tergar Institute: A Flourishing Community

His Very Venerable Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche

The Tergar Institute is thrilled to welcome the second batch of students to our "Foundations of Buddhist Experience" course this September, in person at Osel Ling Monastery, Kathmandu, Nepal.. This program, designed for those seeking to deepen their understanding of Buddhist teachings, is the cornerstone of our educational offerings. As we open our doors to this new group of students, we are excited to embark on a journey of exploration, learning, and spiritual growth together.

The success of our inaugural cohort has paved the way for an even more dynamic and diverse community in this second intake. We are delighted to see students from various backgrounds and countries, each bringing their unique perspectives and experiences to the course. This diversity enriches the learning environment, fostering a space where students can engage in meaningful dialogue, share insights, and support each other on their spiritual journeys.

At the Tergar Institute, we believe that the teachings of Buddhism have universal relevance, offering profound insights into the nature of the mind, the causes of suffering, and the path to liberation. The "Foundations of Buddhist Experience" course is designed to make these teachings accessible, building on each student’s unique background.

What to Expect

  • The "Foundations of Buddhist Experience" course provides a comprehensive introduction to the core principles and practices of Vajrayana Buddhism. Over the duration of the course, students explore key concepts such as the four noble truths, the five aggregates, the two truths, emptiness, and the nature of mind. The course includes practical meditation instruction, helping students to develop mindfulness and compassion in their daily lives.

Our curriculum is carefully designed with Mingyur Rinpoche to balance theoretical knowledge with practical application. Students will have the opportunity to engage with classical Buddhist texts, participate in guided meditations, and take part in group discussions. This holistic approach ensures that students not only gain a deep intellectual understanding of Buddhism but also develop the skills and practices necessary to integrate these teachings into their lives.

Supportive Learning Environment

One of the unique features of the Tergar Institute is our emphasis on creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Our experienced teachers are dedicated to guiding students through the complexities of Buddhist teachings, offering personalized support and feedback throughout the course. In addition, students have access to a range of resources, including recorded lectures, reading materials, and online discussion forums.

We also understand that the path of spiritual growth can sometimes be challenging. That’s why we place a strong emphasis on community support. Our students are encouraged to connect with each other, share their experiences, and offer mutual encouragement. This sense of community is one of the most rewarding aspects of the course, providing students with a network of like-minded individuals who are on the same journey.

Looking Forward

As we welcome this new group of students, we are filled with excitement and anticipation for the journey ahead. The "Foundations of Buddhist Experience" course is not just about acquiring knowledge; it is about transformation—transforming how we see ourselves, others, and the world around us.

We invite all our new students to fully immerse themselves in this experience, to approach the teachings with an open mind and heart, and to take advantage of all the resources and support available. Together, we will explore the profound wisdom of Buddhism and discover how it can bring greater peace, clarity, and compassion into our lives.
